Thursday, June 4, 2009, we met for our Stake Activity Day at the stake center. The girls each brought cans to donate for recycling. After filling out a name badge, the girls chose one of four projects. They learned how to cut plastic grocery bags for use in Africa for the women to make handbags to sell. They sanitized all the nursery toys and furniture. They tied knots on neck scarves to donate to a free medical clinic. They also made beautiful handmade cards to give veterans for the 4th of July in appreciation for service to our country. We finished with prayer and refreshments.

We had approximately 130 girls in attendance, and I believe the girls went home feeling like they could help make a difference in someone's life by giving an hour of service.

A special thanks to Sister Debbie Ableman for her project ideas and for letting us use her markers, scissors and tools. Sister Vicki Nield cut all the scarves before leaving on a family trip, and we loved the colors she chose for the girls to work with. Thank you also to Sister Becky Phillips, Vicki Worthen and any other activity day leaders who stayed to help teach and direct. Thanks to the girls who came to serve. We appreciate and love you and the girls in our stake!! Thank you for all your hard work.

Sincerely,
