The weather was perfect for this activity. Even the leaders were thinking of jumping in to cool off. The pool had a fun diving board and slide which really entertained the group. Sister Vicki Nield and her daughter Kiely were extremely organized with color choices for the headband craft. The bands turned out beautiful as each girl selected varied colors to hot glue together.

We finished with cone dishes filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with all sorts of yummy treats.

The activity was a huge success. Most of the girls had a hard time leaving the pool asking for just a few more minutes swimming.

Activity Day for the girls going into the 6th Grade. The girls enjoyed swimming after the leaders helped each girl make a fashion headband.

Thanks to the mothers and ward leaders who stayed to be with the girls and helped to make the activity even more fun.

Thursday, June 4, 2009, we met for our Stake Activity Day at the stake center. The girls each brought cans to donate for recycling. After filling out a name badge, the girls chose one of four projects. They learned how to cut plastic grocery bags for use in Africa for the women to make handbags to sell. They sanitized all the nursery toys and furniture. They tied knots on neck scarves to donate to a free medical clinic. They also made beautiful handmade cards to give veterans for the 4th of July in appreciation for service to our country. We finished with prayer and refreshments.

We had approximately 130 girls in attendance, and I believe the girls went home feeling like they could help make a difference in someone's life by giving an hour of service.

A special thanks to Sister Debbie Ableman for her project ideas and for letting us use her markers, scissors and tools. Sister Vicki Nield cut all the scarves before leaving on a family trip, and we loved the colors she chose for the girls to work with. Thank you also to Sister Becky Phillips, Vicki Worthen and any other activity day leaders who stayed to help teach and direct. Thanks to the girls who came to serve. We appreciate and love you and the girls in our stake!! Thank you for all your hard work.

Sincerely,

Stake Primary Activity Day for all girls 8-11 years. We chose to do four service projects and found that many hands make light work.
